08.02.10 - *Long* Overdue Label News

Ember MusicThe last few months have been extremely busy on a lot of fronts so I have been meaning to post an update for some time. The biggest news is I am now part of a great new net-label along with a collection of fantastic musicians from all over the world.

Ember Music was launched in June 2010 and is an artist-run net-label which is taking a very different approach to the role of a label. The label itself runs effectively like a non-profit. Any revenue generated goes almost entirely to the artists, the label only gets the funds required to run things which largely is just hosting right now and not terribly expensive.

As time goes on, Ember will also begin to be more than just a label site as we'll include things like tutorials, reviews, sound libraries, software instruments, etc... all created by the label artists.

We're planning on a label compilation release this fall that will feature all of the artists, but in the meantime, go check out the label site and take a listen to our label playlist that has various works by many of the artists. And if you like what you hear, please let others know!

    01.20.10 - Current Going's-On

Hope everyone's new year has been going well. Just a little update on what I've been up to. My wife's album is officially done! All's that is left is sending off to iTunes/Amazon/etc... and getting a physical run of CDs made. There were a lot of challenges but I think it all paid off pretty well. I'll have an update soon on listen/purchase info for it for those that are interested.

As for my stuff, I'll be getting back to finishing up Homework Vol 1 in the near future. I don't have an estimate on completion yet because in the few spare moments I've had the last month or so I've started working up a couple new pieces. I've also been just starting to get my feet wet with Max/MSP (and Max 4 Live) as well as Reaktor, which being a programmer has really started causing a lot of lights to go off as far as finally bridging the two areas of my life, software engineering and music. So we'll see what gets worked into the album because of Max and Reaktor.

Also, I've become very interested in a lot of 20th century composers that were either indirectly or directly responsible for the entire genre of electronic music. (Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Edgar Varese, Steve Reich, Iannis Xenakis, Anton Webern, etc...). So I've been doing a lot of reading, listening and analysis and it is all giving me a lot of inspiration and ideas. So, we'll see what those influences bring for new material in 2010.

11.5.09 - Current List of Stores for Ether and a Homework update

Here is the current list of online stores where 'Ether' is now available.Ether by MobiusB

And here are the ones that for various reasons, I can't verify but Ether *should* be there. (If you have access to or are a member of any of these services and you can check, please shoot me an email).

    • IMVU
    • Nokia Music Store (I have no link for this one since it's only accessible via a Nokia phone)
    • eMusic
    • Rhapsody

Additionally, I'm also now in general rotation at Jango and hope to be on Pandora as well before years end. I'm also trying to get in the rotation on SomaFM. (Some emails to them from fans asking for some MobiusB on the GrooveSalad, Space Station Soma, Drone Zone, CliqHop and Mission Control might also help. hint hint. :-) )
